This is a 1925 rollsign from a BROOKLYN BMT TROLLEY. This sign was used in cars 3953, 3954, 4100 to 4199 and 4300 to 4304. (similar to car #4573 as shown here at the Branford Trolley Museum, East Haven, CT.)
In 1932, a three reading insert was added to the bottom of the sign on some cars: “CROSSTOWN-PARK ROW”, “CROSSTOWN” and “COURT”.
In 1936 those cars assigned to the 58th Street depot had a reading “ERIE BASIN LINE” added to the bottom of the sign.
Some cars had two readings added to the bottom of the original sign: “CONEY ISLAND” and “GRAVESEND”
In 1937, on cars assigned to the Ninth Avenue Depot, a reading “ERIE BASIN LINE” was inserted between “BERGEN STREET” and “OCEAN AVENUE”.
Measures 51 inches wide with 4 1/2 inch high readings. White letters on a BLACK background.
This sign is in GOOD condition.
