These Rockola (Rock-ola) 1542-1544-1546-1548 wallboxes were produced from 1951 to 1958 and were all similar in design. Even though they were both 50 selections and 120 selections, the covers were all interchangeable. They measured approximately 14 inches in height, 11 inches wide and 7 inches deep. They were a "push only one button" for selection controlled by the position of the pages. (The pages had tabs on them and depending on their position would "make" or "break" contacts in the pulsing order. They were a three wire hookup and accumulated up to 31 plays.
The pages were different (50 selections or 120 selections) and the internal wiring was the same except for the number of selections. If it was a 50 selection wallbox it would have two tabs and a 120 selection wallbox would have five tabs and there would be corresponding leaf switches in the wallbox.
The 1542 was a 50 selection wallbox produced in 1951 and 1952 and designed specifically for the Rocket 1432, Super Rocket 1434 and the Comet Playmaster (Hideaway) 1440 jukeboxes. They all had HAMMERTONE paint covers.
The 1544 was a 120 selection wallbox produced from 1952 to 1954 and was specifically designed for the Fireball 1436, 1436A and the Comet Fireball 1438 jukeboxes. They all had CHROME covers.
The 1546 was a 120 selection wallbox produced from 1952 to 1954 and was specifically designed for the Comet Fireball 1438, Comet Fireball High-Fi 1446, Icicle 1448 , Icicle 1454 and the 1458 jukeboxes. They all had CHROME covers.
The 1546 wallboxes that were designed specifically for the Comet Fireball 1446 had different (multi-colored) titlestrip indicators to match the colors of the drum unit. They also had a green/white instruction plate as opposed to the gold/black instruction plate.
